Apply online in a few minutes
You do not have to come in. Start your request online at any hour, from your phone or computer.
- Fill in the short form. It takes a few minutes and asks about the amount you need, your income and your bank account.
- See the terms first. If you get an offer, the amount, the fee, the APR and the due date are shown before you agree. There is no obligation.
- Get your money. If you accept, the lender explains how and when the funds are paid, often by direct deposit.
Approval is not guaranteed. The online form is run by a third-party lending network, not by our stores. Its lenders may offer other loan types, such as installment loans, with amounts, costs and terms that differ from our in-store payday loans and depend on your state and the lender.
How payday loans work in Nebraska
In Nebraska, payday loans are delayed deposit services under the Delayed Deposit Services Licensing Act. Since Nebraska voters approved Initiative 428 in November 2020, the cost of these loans is capped at a 36% annual percentage rate. Lenders must be licensed by the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance.
What a payday loan costs in Nebraska
| Cash you receive | Most it can cost (14 days) | Check / you repay (14 days) | Most it can cost (34 days) | Check / you repay (34 days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $1.38 | $101.38 | $3.35 | $103.35 |
| $200 | $2.76 | $202.76 | $6.71 | $206.71 |
| $300 | $4.14 | $304.14 | $10.06 | $310.06 |
| $400 | $5.52 | $405.52 | $13.41 | $413.41 |
How this is worked out: 36% a year on the cash you receive, for the number of days the loan is outstanding. For example, $400 for 34 days costs no more than $13.41. Your check, including the cost, can be no more than $500, so the most you can receive is about $493 for 14 days or about $483 for 34 days. Your exact cost and APR are shown in writing before you sign.
How Nebraska law protects you
- 36% APR cap. A licensee may not charge more than a 36% annual percentage rate. A transaction above the cap is void, and the lender cannot collect on it.
- $500 limit. A lender may not hold checks from you worth more than $500 in total at any one time. The check includes the cost, so the most you can receive is a little under $500.
- 34 days at most. A check may not be held for more than 34 days.
- Licensed lenders only. Delayed deposit businesses need a license from the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance, which also takes complaints.
- Military borrowers. Active-duty servicemembers and their dependents are also covered by the federal Military Lending Act, which caps the Military Annual Percentage Rate (MAPR, which includes most fees) at 36%.
